CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Providence women's wrestling program secured their best finish in program history taking fourth at the National Dual Championships this weekend.

Matt Atwood on his team's performance stated, "Another milestone for the program was achieved this year, 4
th in the country is our highest ever national finish! We picked up some major wins this weekend in our individual matches. We also lost a handful that I know the girls are disappointed in, but I could not be happier with the team's effort throughout the tournament! They brought the fight each and every match and we will get back to the drawing board and make the adjustments we need to make, and our team will come back stronger before March!"
In the first match of the day against #1 Life University, #1 sophomore
Erin Hikiji put the Argos in front defeating #4 Devyn Gomez by TF.
UP would lose the next two matches but at 123 #12 sophomore
Alicia Frank pinned Sophie Sarver to put the Argos ahead by five.
Despite #5 senior
Sadie Antoque defeating #2 Latifah McBryde, it would not be enough as the Argos fell in the semifinals 26-18.
In the third-place match against #6 Texas Wesleyan, #18
Isa Bocanegra won the opening match for the Argos defeating Jolie Lucas 10-0.
#7 freshman
Alyssa Randles also picked up a victory pinning #3 Elizabeth Duvall, but UP would ultimately fall to Texas Wesleyan.
The Argos will be back in action Jan. 13 for the Golden Bear Open. Wrestlers will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Butterdome in Edmonton AB, Canada.
