BILLINGS, Mont. -- The University of Providence volleyball program swept Dickinson State Friday afternoon.
In the first set against the Blue Hawks (4-14) Dickinson State got out to an early 9-5 lead, but the Argos (16-4) would slowly cut into the lead with kills from juniors
Franny Martins and
Ryann Eddins to tie the set at 16. UPÂ would cruise from there with kills from junior
Bella Green, sophomore
Martyna Fiedler, and sophomore
Cabry Taylor to secure the first set 21-25.
In set two the Argos jumped out to 8-2 lead behind a pair of kills from junior
Sadie Giles, and despite a late run from the Blue Hawks, kills from Giles and Green took the second set for UP 25-19.
In the third set both teams went back and forth until a 12-1 run from the Argos put UP ahead 20-8. The Blue Hawks would add a couple of late points but kills from freshman
Kya Stanley and
Trinity Tinsen secured the third set 25-10 and the match 3-0.
Eddins led the way with 13 kills and Giles added 10 kills while hitting .423 and .391, respectively. Junior
Bella Thompson added to her NAIA leading assists per set with 41 total assists and senior
Ava Saiers added 18 digs.
The Argos are back in action tomorrow, Oct. 12 when face Mayville State University. Game time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in Billings, Mont. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
