BILLINGS, Mont. -- The University of Providence volleyball program picked up their second straight sweep defeating Mayville State 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
In the first set against Comets (8-11), the Argos (17-4) scored the first four points off kills from junior
Ryann Eddins and sophomore
Cabry Taylor. UP would continue their momentum with an 8-1 run behind kills from senior
Nina Janjic and junior
Franny Martins to take a commanding 17-5 lead. UP cruised from there taking the first set 25-10.
The second set was back and forth early until an 8-1 run behind kills from Taylor and Eddins put the Argos ahead 15-8. UP rolled the rest of the way with kills from freshman
Trinity Tinsen and Janjic as UP won the second 25-12.
The Argos jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the third set after a pair of kills from Eddins, but the Comets would slowly cut into the lead tying the set at 16. Mayville would stay hot getting out to a 19-18 advantage, but back-to-back blocks from junior
Sadie Giles and Taylor secured the final set 26-24 and the match 3-0.
Eddins led the way with 11 kills and Taylor added nine kills while hitting .474 and .208, respectively. Junior
Bella Thompson added to her NAIA leading assists per set with 28 total assists and senior
Ava Saiers added 15 digs.
The Argos are back in action Thursday, Oct. 17 when they host MSU-Northern. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
