Ashlee Maldonado's Providence Jersey to go into Ring of Honor at Women's Basketball Hall of Fame

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame has announced that Ashlee Maldonado will see her jersey placed on the Ring of Honor display in Knoxville, Tenn., in recognition of her phenomenal play throughout the 2023-24 season.
 
Maldonado joins Emilee Maldonado (Twice), Parker Esary, Stephanie McDonagh, and Erin Legel as the only Argos to have their jerseys hung in the Ring of Honor at the WBCA Hall of Fame.

Maldonado finished her 23-24 season as the Frontier Conference Newcomer of the Year, Frontier Conference Defender of the Year, First Team All-Conference, First Team NAIA All-Tournament Team, First Team All-American, and Academic All-American. Maldonado also set a new program record with 648 points scored in a single season, led the NAIA in games started and minutes played, averaging 18.0 points per game, and was seventh in the NAIA in assists with 172.

Head coach Bill Himmelberg on Ashlee's success stated, "It is amazing to have this recognition after the incredible success Ashlee had last year. She is truly a leader for us both on and off the court and I could not be happier with all the accolades she receives. She truly deserves every one of them and I cannot wait to see her perform for us this season."

With over 100 jerseys in the rafters, the Ring of Honor displays jerseys of some of the best high school and college players in the country from the previous season. Maldonado joins Candace Parker, Sue Bird, Kelsey Plum, Breanna Stewart, and Aja Wilson, who have all have had their jerseys displayed there.


Maldonado on her jersey being in the WBCA Ring of Honor stated, "I am honored to represent not only the University of Providence but also our team. It is an amazing honor and shoutout to our team for our incredible season. I don't really have any words for it, it is an amazing accomplishment, and we have another goal we are hoping to reach this season."

The Argos will begin their season on October 31 when they travel to Oklahoma City to face the University of Science and Arts. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (MST).
