KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Providence women's basketball team was ranked #2 in the NAIA by the Preseason Coaches Top 25 poll Wednesday.
The Argos finished the 2023-2024 season as the #14 ranked team in the NAIA and defeated Carroll College in the Frontier Conference Championship before making it to the program's first NAIA National Championship game. #2 is the highest ranking in program history.
Head coach
Bill Himmelberg on the preseason ranking stated, "It's awesome to get this kind of recognition after our phenomenal season in 23-24. Being ranked #2 for the highest ranking in program history is pretty special, but it really does not mean anything as we have to earn it all season."
The 2024-2025 University of Providence team has many impactful returners including four starters and first team All-American
Ashlee Maldonado, first team all-conference selection
Keanna Salave'a and all-defensive team selection
Monique Carter.
The Argos will begin their season on Oct. 31 when they travel to Oklahoma City, Okla. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (MST) against the University of Science and Arts (Okla.).
