GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence volleyball program cruised to a 3-0 sweep over Rocky Mountain College Thursday night.
In the first set against the Battlin' Bears (10-8), the Argos (14-3) jumped out to a 7-4 lead behind kills from junior
Sadie Giles and senior
Nina Janjic. UP would continue their momentum from there scoring seven of the last nine points of the set to take the first 25-15.
The second set was back-and-forth throughout until a late 9-1 run from the Argos behind kills from junior
Ryann Eddins and Giles was too much for the Battlin' Bears as UP took the second set 25-15.
In the third set neither side could gain a lead by more than two until four straight from Rocky Mountain College put the Battlin' Bears ahead 15-12. The Argos would answer with a 7-0 run to take a 19-15 lead, but six straight from RMC retook the lead for the Battlin' Bears 21-19. A pair of kill from Janjic put the Argos ahead by one, and following kills from Eddins and redshirt sophomore
Cabry Taylor, UP took the final set 26-24 and the match 3-0.
Janjic led the way for UP with 16 kills, junior
Bella Thompson had 39 assists, and senior
Ava Saiers added 19 digs.
The Argos are back in action Saturday, Oct. 5 when they host Carroll College. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â Â Â Â
