GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence volleyball program swept Carroll College 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
In the first set against the Fighting Saints (12-6), neither side could gain a lead by more than two until three straight from Carroll College put the Fighting Saints ahead 14-11. Following a UP timeout the Argos (15-3) tied the match at 14 following kills from junior
Sadie Giles and senior
Nina Janjic. The Argos continued their momentum the rest of the way as UP took the first set 25-22.
The second set was more of the same as neither team could grab an edge until four straight points from UP behind kills from sophomore
Ella Cochran and sophomore
Cabry Taylor gave the Argos a 16-12 lead. UP would slowly extend their lead down the stretch as UP won the second set 25-20.
In the third set the Argos jumped out to an early 6-1 lead, and despite a late run from the Fighting Saints, three straight kills from Janjic secured the third set for UP 25-19 and the match 3-0. Janjic led the way for UP with 15 kills, junior
Bella Thompson had 45 assists, and senior
Ava Saiers added 19 digs.
The Argos are back in action Thursday, Oct. 10 when they travel to Billings, Mont. for the Frontier/North Star Crossover. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. versus #2 Jamestown. Â Â Â Â Â Â
