Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Argos Fall to Warriors

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's soccer program fell to Corban University 3-2 Saturday afternoon.

The Argos (3-6) jumped in front first when senior Tomeu Nebot Schmalfeld's shot bounced off the goalkeeper to sophomore Liam Vaux who found the back of the net to put UP ahead 1-0.

A few minutes later the Warriors (4-5-1) would answer when David Montano received the pass from Irwin Leon and buried it to tie the game at one.

Both teams would have chances the rest of the half but neither were able to capitalize as UP went into the break tied at one.

The Argos opened up the scoring in the second half when junior Jason Olivera's shot off the crossbar went directly to Schmalfeld who beat the goalkeeper to put UP ahead 2-1.

Despite being down two men due to red cards, the Warriors would score goals in the 56th and 87th minute to secure the victory as UP fell to Corban 3-2.

The Argos will be back in action Oct. 11 when they travel to LaGrande, Ore. The first touch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (MST) versus Eastern Oregon.
