HAVRE, Mont. -- The University of Providence volleyball program cruised to the Frontier Conference Tournament Championship with a sweep over MSU-Northern Friday night.
In the first set against the Skylights (13-16) the Argos (24-6) jumped out to an 8-4 lead behind kills from sophomore
Cabry Taylor and junior
Bella Green. MSU-Northern would bring the match within two, but UP scored the final four points of the set off kills from sophomore
Martyna Fiedler and junior
Franny Martins to secure the first set 25-17.
The second set saw the Argos score five of the first six, but a 4-0 run from the Skylights tied the set at eight. Both sides would trade runs culminating in a tie at 20 late in the set. The set had ties at 24, and 25 before kills from junior
Sadie Giles and Green secured the second set for UP 27-25.
The Skylights got out to a 3-1 lead in the third set but the Argos would slowly come back tying the set at five. Both teams would trade points until a 5-1 run from UP behind kills from Taylor and Giles put UP in front 22-17. The Argos would maintain that edge the rest of the way as UP secured the third set 25-19, and the match 3-0.
Taylor and junior
Ryann Eddins led the way with 13 and 12 kills while hitting .500 and .346, respectively. Junior
Bella Thompson added 38 assists and senior
Ava Saiers had a team high 12 digs.
The Argos are back in action Saturday, Nov. 16 for the Frontier Conference Tournament Championship. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Havre, Mont. Â Â Â
