GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence volleyball program swept MSU-Northern Thursday night.
In the first set against the Skylight (11-15), the Argos (22-6) jumped out to a 9-5 lead behind kills from sophomore
Ella Cochran and junior
Franny Martins. UP would continue their momentum scoring five of the next six points, and despite a late 3-0 run from the Skylights, kills from junior
Ryann Eddins and sophomore
Cabry Taylor secured the first set for the Argos 25-18.
In the second set neither side could grab a lead by more than two until five straight from the Argos behind kills from Eddins, Taylor, and junior
Sadie Giles put UP ahead 22-19. The Argos would maintain that edge the rest of the way taking the second set 25-21.
The third set was more of the same as neither team could separate early, but a 7-2 run from UP put the Argos ahead 21-15. UP would cruise the rest of the way with a block by junior
Bella Thompson and Taylor along with a kill from senior
Nina Janjic to secure the third set 25-19 and the match 3-0. Â Â
Nina Janjic led the way with 14 kills and Taylor added 10 while hitting .545 and .417, respectively. Junior
Bella Thompson tallied 36 assists and senior
Ava Saiers had a team high 18 digs.
The Argos are back in action Saturday, Nov. 9 when they host #19 Montana Tech. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â
