GREAT FALLS, Mont. - - The University of Providence softball program split in a pair of games versus Warner Pacific on Friday.
In game one the Argos jumped in front after a double to right field from senior
Deven Creech, but Warner Pacific would score three in the top of the fifth to take a two-run lead.
The Argos would get one back in the bottom half when graduate transfer
Madi Moore doubled to left field, but it would not be enough as the Argos fell in game one 3-2. Creech threw all seven innings and struck out 10 in the loss.
In game two the Argos struck first in the bottom of the fourth when a single to left from sophomore
Kolbi Wood forced a throwing error from the Knights as senior
Azia Umphrey came around to score.
Warner Pacific would add two runs in the top of the fifth, but a single to center from sophomore
Tiffany Fuentes scored Umphrey to tie the game at two.
Neither side was able to score until the bottom of the ninth, with two outs, senior
Macy Mangold put the ball in play and the Argos took advantage of the Knights mistake with Moore scoring all the way from first for the walk-off victory.
Moore threw all nine innings and set a new single game school record with 19 strikeouts in the victory.
