JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The University of Providence women's wrestling program sent four Argos to the semifinals after day one at the NAIA Championship.
Sophomore
Erin Hikiji did not let up a point in any of her matches on Friday pinning Taya Garner in 27 seconds in the first round and then defeated both Karina Vang and Riley Banyas 10-0 to punch her ticket to the semifinals.
Freshman
Paige Morales also made it to the semifinals going 2-0 on the day. Morales defeated Kylee Slyter 10-0 and then defeated Emma Baertlein 10-4 to secure a semifinal match.
Freshman
Alyssa Randles secured her All-American status as well going 3-0 on Friday. Randles defeated Bryce White 11-0, Peyton Hand 12-2, and pinned Elizabeth Duval in 4:10 in the quarterfinals.
Junior
Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp was the fourth Argo who advanced to the semifinals defeating Carley Anderson 10-0, pinning Kaydince Turner in 1:32, and defeating Tiyahna Askew 9-3 in the quarterfinals. Estrella-Beauchamp is now a three-time All-American in her career.
Junior
Sadie Antoque also earned All-American status on Friday defeating Anastasia Hardin 5-1 in the blood rounds. Antoque is now a two-time All-American in her career for the Argos.
The Argos will be back in action tomorrow at the NAIA National Championship in Jamestown N.D. Wrestlers will begin at 9 a.m. (MST) in Harold Newman Arena.
