Game Recap: Softball |

Argos Split Versus Bushnell

EUGENE, Ore. - - The University of Providence softball program split in a pair of games versus Bushnell University falling 2-0 in game one and winning 9-8 in game two on Friday.

In game one the Beacons would go ahead 1-0 after a triple in the first inning, and despite six strong innings from senior Deven Creech, the Argos fell 2-0 in the opening game.

In the second matchup the Argos jumped ahead early with Creech drawing a bases loaded walk in the top of the first to score senior Macy Mangold.

The Argos would score another three runs in the top of the first courtesy of a bases clearing double by junior Ryen Palmer that put UP ahead 4-0.

Following zeros from both sides in the second inning, the Argos added to their lead when Creech tripled to right center field to score senior Azia Umphrey and Mangold.

Palmer would make it back-to-back triples scoring Creech, and sophomore Kolbi Wood would put the Argos ahead 8-0 after her single up the middle scored Palmer from third.

Bushnell added a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, but in the top of the fourth a SAC fly from Palmer scored Umphrey for her fifth RBI of the game.

The Beacons would score six runs over the next three innings to bring the game within one, and despite the winning run getting to scoring position in the bottom of the seventh, graduate transfer Madi Moore slammed the door striking out the last two batters to secure the 9-8 victory for UP.
