BILLINGS, Mont. -- The University of Providence women's soccer team
fell 2-0 to Doane University Friday night.
The Argos (0-1) had the first chance of the game when freshman
Brooklyn Poole found junior
Kailey Camper who punched it forward to senior
Ernestina S. Ofori, but her shot was blocked away by a sliding defender. Â
The Tigers (1-1) would respond with a shot from outside the box that just got over the goalkeeper's outstretched hands to give Doane a 1-0 lead.
Neither side was able to put together another chance as UP went into the half trailing by one.
UP came out of the half aggressive with shots by sophomore
Gabby McVay, Camper, and freshman
Holly St. Germain's whose shot just clipped the goalie's feet in the 48th minute. Â
The Argos would continue to get shots on the net when Camper's cross found Ofori in the box but was unable to handle it cleanly as the goalie took it away.
The Tigers added another goal in the 69th minute, and despite late shots from St. Germain and sophomore
Shea Waters, the Argos fell to Doane University 2-0.
The Argos will be back in action Thursday, Aug. 22 when they host Lethbridge University. The first touch is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â Â
