GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence volleyball program cruised to a 3-1 victory over #13 Montana Western Saturday afternoon.

In the first set against the Bulldogs (9-4) the Argos scored the first three points off kills from sophomore Martyna Fiedler, senior Nina Janjic, and junior Ryann Eddins, but the Bulldogs would respond with a 7-1 run to take a 6-4 lead. Both sides would go back and forth the rest of the set until Montana Western scored the final three points to take the first set 25-21.

In set two neither team could gain a lead by more than two until a 5-0 run from the Argos (12-2) scored five straight off a pair of kills from Janjic to take a 15-9 lead. UP would not look back from there scoring six of the final eight points of the set to take the second 25-16.  

The Argos jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the third set courtesy of a pair of kills from Eddins and Janjic. Despite the Bulldogs pressuring late, the Argos scored six of the last seven points of the set to take the third set 25-15.  

In the fourth set it was back and forth early until six straight from the Argos behind kills from sophomore Cabry Taylor and sophomore Sadie Giles put the Argos ahead 10-6. UP would slowly extend their lead the rest of the way as the Argos took the fourth set 25-16 and the match 3-1.

Janjic led the way for UP with 14 kills, junior Bella Thompson had 45 assists, and senior Ava Saiers and Giles added 29 and 26 digs, respectively.

The Argos are back in action Thursday, Sept. 26 when they host Montana Tech. Gametime is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. at the Mclaughlin Center.
