GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence volleyball program fell to Montana Tech 3-0 Thursday evening.
In the first set against the Orediggers (9-5), Montana Tech scored the first four points of the set, but the Argos would slowly chip into the lead tying the set at 14. Both sides would go back and forth the rest of the way, but the Orediggers would score four of the final five points of the set to take the first 25-21.
In set two neither team could gain a lead by more than two until three straight from the Orediggers put Montana Tech ahead 11-8. The Argos would cut the lead to one, but Montana Tech would quickly push it back to three and maintain that edge the rest of the way taking the second 25-22. Â
The third set was back and forth with kills from senior
Sadie Giles and a block by sophomore
Cabry Taylor, but the Orediggers would have an answer tying the set at six. Montana Tech slowly extended their lead out to four, but the Argos would respond with kills from Giles and
Nina Janjic to tie the set at 17. A pair of kills from Janjic put UP ahead 20-18, but the Orediggers would rally late to take the third set 25-23 and the match 3-0.
The Argos are back in action Saturday, Sept. 28 when they travel to Havre, Mont. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. against MSU-Northern. Â Â Â Â
