GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence women's soccer team
tied 1-1 with Providence Christian College on Thursday.
The Argos (1-1-1) put the pressure on early with shots by senior
Ernestina S. Ofori and freshman
Holly St. Germain, but their attempts were saved the by goalkeeper.
Following a pair of shots from the Lady Sea Beggars (1-2-1), junior
Kailey Camper had an opportunity but her shot from just outside the box was saved.
In the 33
rd minute the Argos continued their momentum with a shot by freshman
Brooklyn Poole, and after it was blocked by the goalkeeper, Poole's rebound found the back of the net for her first goal as an Argo.
Just before the half expired the Lady Sea Beggars found the equalizer as UP went into the half tied 1-1 with Providence Christian.
UP had the first chance of the second half, but senior
Malan Flygare's free kick was stopped by the Lady Sea Beggers.
Both sides would have a few late chances including a shot by senior
Mel Alvarado-Lopez, but neither team was able to capitalize as the Argos tied Providence Christian 1-1.
The Argos will be back in action tomorrow when travel to San Dimas, Calif. to face Life Pacific. The first touch is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. (MST).
