GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program swept Rocky Mountain College Friday night for their 19
th straight victory.
In the first set the Argos (20-1) got out to an early 10-2 lead behind kills from senior
Bella Green, senior
Franny Martins, and junior
Martyna Fiedler. The Argos continued their momentum dominating the rest of the set scoring six of the last eight with a kill from freshman
Brooklyn Hillman securing the first for UP 25-8.
The second set was back-and-forth with neither side gaining a lead by more than three until seven straight from the Argos behind a pair of kills from senior
Kiyana Faupula put UP ahead 24-16. Following a point from the Batlin' Bears (1-16), Rocky Mountain served the ball into the net to give the Argos the second set 25-17.
In the third set the Argos scored six of the first seven off kills from sophomore
Kya Stanley and senior
Ryann Eddins, but the Battlin' Bears did not go away tying the set at 14. Each side traded points until a 7-1 run from the Argos behind kills from Martins, Faupula, and Hillman gave UP a 23-17 edge. The Battlin' Bears would add a point but a kill from Martins and a block from Stanley and Eddins secured the third set for the Argos 25-18, and the match 3-0.
Senior
Ryann Eddins led the way for the Argos with nine kills, freshman
Araleigh Arnold totaled 27 assists, and juniors
Kyra Saiers and
Ellie Carlson added 11 digs apiece.
The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 11 when they host #24 Carroll College. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont.
