GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence women's soccer
program fell to Rocky Mountain College 5-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Battlin' Bears (7-3-1) had the first opportunity of the game when in the eighth minute sophomore Georgia Dean put a ball on frame but it was saved by senior goalkeeper
Jennifer Alvillar.
The Argos (4-6-2) had a chance a few minutes later when junior
Shea Waters had a good look at the goal, but her shot was saved by freshman Matea Vernon.
Over the next 10 minutes the Battlin' Bears pressured to get off three shots until senior Emma Lensing and freshman Mia Daskalovska found the back of the net one minute apart to give Rocky Mountain a 2-0 lead.
Neither side threatened the rest of the half as the Argos went into the break trailing by two.
The Battlin' Bears continued their momentum into the second half, putting three shots on goal in the first 10 minutes, but a loose ball in the box for the Argos went off of the post right to sophomore
Peyton Schmauch who tapped it into the back of the net to cut the lead in half.
Just over a minute later Rocky Mountain College answered when Lensing found junior Charlize Davis in the box who beat the goalkeeper to re-extend the Battlin' Bear lead to two.
Davis and Lensing would add their second goals of the game down the stretch, and despite a late shot from sophomore
Andriah Watson, the Argos fell to Rocky Mountain College 5-1.
The Argos will be back in action Friday, Oct. 24 when they head to La Grande, Ore. The first touch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (MST) versus Eastern Oregon. Â Â Â Â
