MAYVILLE, N.D. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program swept Mayville State while hitting .314 as a team Saturday afternoon.
In the first set the Argos (23-1) got out to an early 8-2 lead behind kills from seniors
Bella Green,
Sadie Giles, and junior
Martyna Fiedler. Both teams traded points the rest of the way, but the Argos scored seven of the last eight with a kill from Fiedler securing the first set for UP 25-15.
The Argos continued to roll in the second set scoring the first six and extending their lead out to 10-3 off kills from Giles, Green, and senior
Franny Martins. UP would not let up the rest of the way ending the set on a 11-3 run with a kill from senior
Ryann Eddins taking the second for UP 25-12.
The third set was more of the same with the Argos scoring the first eight points behind kills form junior
Cabry Taylor and Martins, and despite a 3-1 run from the Comets (5-16), the Argos dominated down the stretch with a kill from Eddins securing the third set 25-16, and the match 3-0.
Green led the way for the Argos with 11 kills; senior
Bella Thompson totaled 38 assists and juniors
Kyra Saiers had a team high 25 digs. Â
The Argos will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 23 when they host Bismarck State College. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (MST) in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â Â
