GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program swept Bismarck State to move to 17-0 in Frontier Conference play and extend their overall winning streak to 23 games.
In the first set the Argos (24-1) got out to an early 9-4 lead behind kills from seniors
Bella Green and
Sadie Giles, but three straight from the Mystics (4-18) brought the set within two. UP slowly extended their lead the rest of the first ending the set on a 7-2 run with a kill from senior
Bella Thompson securing the first 25-16.
The second set saw the Argos take control early taking a commanding 11-3 lead off kills from juniors
Martyna Fiedler,
Cabry Taylor, and seniors
Sadie Giles and
Franny Martins. UP continued their momentum with a 9-2 run to put the Argos in front 24-10, and despite a late flurry from the Mystics, a service error from Bismarck State gave the UP the second set 25-16.
In the third set the Argos once again got out to an early 10-4 lead off an ace from freshman
Ella Goeltz and kills from seniors
Ryann Eddins and
Kiyana Faupula. UP controlled the rest of the set slowly extending their lead with a pair of kills from Green securing the third set 25-16, and the match 3-0.
Green led the way for the Argos with 13 kills while hitting .524, senior
Bella Thompson totaled 40 assists and junior
Kyra Saiers had a team high 15 digs.
The Argos will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 24 when they host Dickinson State. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (MST) in Great Falls, Mont.
