GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's soccer
program tied Northwest University 2-2 Thursday afternoon.
The Argos (3-4-2) had the first opportunity of the game when freshman
Musa Jallow found sophomore
Pedro Rodrigues in the box, and he buried his shot to put UP ahead 1-0.
UP traded shots with the Eagles (3-4-3) the rest of the half but neither side could find the back of the net as the Argos went into the break leading 1-0.
The Eagles pressured to begin the second half and in the 46
th minute a rolling shot from Roland Ngoy went through the Argos defense and past the goalkeeper to tie the game at one.
UP had a few chances over the next 10 minutes with shots on goal from sophomore
Jose Gonzalez and senior
Stevie Goode, but the Eagles were the team to find the go-ahead goal when a free kick from just outside the box from Joao Fonseca curved into the back of the net.
The Argos did not go away when in the 78
th minute Gonzalez's pass to freshman
Jose Arevalo gave him a chance at the goal and his shot from outside the box gave the Argos the equalizer.
Despite being a man up for the final 10 minutes, the Argos could not break through as UP tied Northwest University 2-2.
The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 4 when they host The Evergreen State College. The first touch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (MST) in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â
