GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's soccer
program fell to The Evergreen State College 1-0 Saturday afternoon.
The Argos (3-5-2) had the first opportunity of the game getting off three shots in the first six minutes from junior
Hugo Gil, senior
Stevie Goode, and sophomore
Noah Watson, but none could find the mark.
Over the next 10 minutes the Geoducks (1-7) answered with a pair of shots of their own from Kolby Jaurez, and in the 28
th minute Evergreen broke through when off a free kick into the box from Alan Miranda connected with Anthony Diaz who headed the ball to Alex Lopez and his header found the back of the net to give the Geoducks a 1-0 lead.
Both teams went back-and-forth over the final 20 minutes with no real scoring chance as the Argos went into the break trailing 1-0. Â
The Geoducks pressured out of the half rattling off four shots in the first 10 minutes, and despite a late flurry from the Argos, UP could not find the equalizer as the Argos fell to The Evergreen State College 1-0. Â
The Argos will be back in action Friday, Oct. 10 when they travel to Klamath Falls, Ore. The first touch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (MST) versus Oregon Tech. Â Â Â
