Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Argos Fall to Northwest 3-0

GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence women's soccer program fell to Northwest University 3-0 Thursday afternoon.

The Argos (3-3-2) had the first opportunity of the game when senior Kailey Camper's through ball gave junior Shea Waters a good look at the goal, but her shot was saved by sophomore goalkeeper Katie Snow.

A few minutes later the Eagles (5-3-3) had a chance of their own when a ball down the sideline from Talia Hurst found Gracie VanAssche who buried her shot to give Northwest a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles controlled the rest of the first half rattling off seven shots on goal, but none were able to find the back of the net as the Argos went into the break trailing 1-0.

Northwest pressured to begin the second half until in the 57th minute VanAssche found Talia Hurst and her shot beat senior Jennifer Alvillar to put the Eagles ahead 2-0.

The Eagles continued their momentum, adding another goal six minutes later in the same way with Hurst adding her second goal and VanAssche finding her second assist.

Despite a late shot from sophomore Chloe Pajaro, the Argos were unable to cut into the lead as UP fell to Northwest University 3-0.

The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 4 when they host The Evergreen State College. The first touch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (MST) in Great Falls, Mont.
