Argos Sweep Dakota State for 25th Straight Win

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program swept Dakota State to move to 19-0 in Frontier Conference play and extend their overall winning streak to 25 games.

The first set was back-and-forth until a 4-1 run from the Argos (25-1) behind a kill from junior Martyna Fiedler and an ace from junior Ellie Carlson put UP in front 8-4. The Trojans (14-11) brought the set within one, but a 6-1 stretch from the Argos off kills from senior Bella Green and junior Cabry Taylor gave UP a 15-9 edge. The Argos cruised the rest of the way scoring six of the last seven with a kill from senior Kiyana Faupula securing the first set for UP 25-15.

In the second set neither team could grab a lead by more than three until a 7-0 run from the Argos behind kills from senior Franny Martins and Taylor put UP ahead 16-8. Both teams traded points the rest of the set until UP scored the last four off an ace from senior Sadie Giles to take the second set for the Argos 25-14.

The Trojans grabbed an early 8-5 lead in the third, but the Argos slowly cut into the advantage, tying the set at 13. UP continued their momentum with kills from Green and Fiedler to take an 18-14 lead, and despite Dakota State bringing the set within two late, a kill from Green secured the third set for UP 25-22, and the match 3-0.

Green led the way for the Argos with 10 kills; senior Bella Thompson totaled 34 assists and juniors Kyra Saiers had a team high 25 digs.

The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 1 when they head to Bellevue, Neb. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (MST) versus #7 Bellevue.
