GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball program fell to MSU-Northern 62-53 Thursday night.
The Argos (3-1) scored the first seven points of the game behind a jumper from senior McKenna Reggear and a pair of layups from juniors Eliannah Ramirez and Brooke Dial.
Both teams traded points the rest of the first quarter with a jumper from senior Katie Fleming putting the Argos ahead 13-7 heading into the break.
The Skylights (2-1) responded to begin the second period with a 10-2 run to take their first lead of the game 17-15.
MSU-Northern continued their momentum getting out to a 21-16 lead but a three-pointer from Fleming cut the deficit to two heading into halftime.
The Argos quickly tied the game at 21 to open the second half and following ties at 26 and 33, MSU-Northern outscored the Argos 8-4 the rest of the way to take a 41-37 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Skylights slowly extended the lead out to 10 over the first five minutes of the fourth, and despite a late three from freshman Madi Reibel, the Argos comeback fell short falling to MSU-Northern 62-53.
Three Argos reached double-digit scoring in Dial with 13, Reibel with 12, and Fleming with 10.
The Argos will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 21 when they head to Madison, S.D. Tip-off versus #5 Dakota State is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (MST).
