Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Argos Fall to #5 Dakota State

MADISON, S.D. – The University of Providence women's basketball program fell to #5 Dakota State 98-61 Friday night.

The Trojans (5-1) scored the first four points of the game but a layup on the other end from senior Ainsley Thurber cut the lead in half.

Dakota State slowly extended the lead out to eight but a three from senior Camryn Cartwright kept the game within five with three minutes left in the first.

The Trojans outscored the Argos (3-2) 36-14 the rest of the half as UP went into the break trailing 53-26.

The Argos scored the first points of the second half behind a pair of free throws from junior Brooke Dial, but UP was unable to make up the deficit falling to the Trojans 98-61.

Junior Brooke Dial led the way with 16 points while senior Ainsley Thurber and junior Eliannah Ramirez added nine points apiece.

The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 22 when they head to Bellevue, Neb. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (MST) versus Bellevue University.
