HELENA, Mont. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program swept Montana Tech to advance to the Frontier Conference Championship game Friday night.
In the first set both teams went back and forth with neither side gaining a lead by more than two until a 9-2 run from the Argos (30-2) behind kills from junior
Martyna Fiedler and senior
Sadie Giles put UP in front 21-14. The Argos traded points the rest of the set with a kill from junior
Cabry Taylor securing the first for UP 25-19.
The Argos jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in the second set off a pair of kills from senior
Bella Green. The Argos continued their momentum extending the lead to 10, and following a late flurry from the Orediggers (17-13), kills from senior
Kiyana Faupula and Green took the second set for UP 25-17.
The third set was close early but a 7-2 run from UP behind kills from Faupula, Giles, and Green gave the Argos a 14-8 edge. UP did not go away getting out to a nine-point lead, and despite a late 5-1 run from Montana Tech, kills from senior
Ryann Eddins and Taylor secured the third set for the Argos 25-19, and the match 3-0.
Green led the way for the Argos with 15 kills while hitting .542, senior
Bella Thompson totaled 41 assists, and senior
Sadie Giles had a team high 15 digs.
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 15 when they face the winner of MSU-Northern and #6 Bellevue in the Frontier Conference Tournament Championship. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Helena, Mont. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
