Argos Fall to Trojans in Frontier Conference Matchup

MADISON, S.D. – The University of Providence men's basketball program fell to Dakota State 83-53 Friday night.

The Argos (0-8) scored the first basket of the game off a layup from junior Marvel Chambers Jr. and following a free throw from the Trojans (5-1), a layup from senior Jakub Lloyd put the Argos in front 4-1.

Dakota State answered with a 17-0 run over the next nine minutes to take an 18-4 lead, but a 6-2 run behind layups from sophomore Quinn Swanson and Anthony Hobbs, brought the Argos within 10.

Both teams traded points the rest of the half as UP went into the break trailing 38-24.

The Trojans slowly extended the lead out to 20 to begin the second half, and despite a few late baskets from juniors Preston Condie and Jermaine Rogers II, the Argos fell to Dakota State 83-53.

Marvel Chambers Jr. led the way for the Argos with 16 points while Jermaine Rogers II added 11.

The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 22 when they head to Bellevue, Neb. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (MST) versus Bellevue University.
