Argos Fall to Bellevue in Frontier Conference Matchup

BELLEVUE, Neb. – The University of Providence men's basketball program fell to Bellevue University 74-64 Friday night.

The Argos (0-9) scored the first four points of the game behind a pair of jumpers from sophomore Anthony Hobbs and senior Jakub Lloyd, but the Bruins (8-0) quickly tied the game at four.

Both sides would trade baskets over the next 10 minutes until four free throws from the Bruins put Bellevue in front 27-21.

The Bruins slowly extended the lead out to 10 but a three from junior Marcus Lawson cut the deficit to seven heading into halftime.

Over the first five minutes the Argos slowly chipped into the lead with a jumper from junior Preston Condie and a layup from junior Jermaine Rodgers II to make it 54-52 midway through the second half.

Both teams went back-and-forth until a 12-2 run form the Bruins extended the Belleuve lead out to 70-58 with five minutes remaining.

The Argos were unable to get within 10 the rest of the way as UP fell to Bellevue 74-64.

Three Argos reached double digit scoring in Marvel Chambers Jr. with 20 points, Jakub Lloyd added 20, and Marcus Lawson with 11.

The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 6 when they host Bismarck State College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (MST) in Great Falls, Mont.
