GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's basketball program defeated Bismarck State 95-83 Saturday night.
Argos (1-9) scored the first basket of the game off a jumper from freshman
Anthony Hobbs, and following a three on the other end from the Mystics (0-8), a three-pointer from junior
Marcus Lawson put UP ahead 5-3.
Both teams went back-and-forth until six straight from the Argos behind layups from sophomore
Quinn Swanson and Lawson gave UP a 21-16 edge.
Each side traded baskets over the next 10 minutes with three pointers from junior
Jermaine Rogers II and Hobbs keeping the Argos ahead 38-33 with just over five minutes left in the half.
The Argos ended the first half on a 14-2 run off layups from Hobbs, Rogers II, and Lloyd to give UP a 52-35 lead heading into the break.
The Mystics opened the scoring in the second half, but the Argos quickly answered with a three-pointer from Swanson and an and one from Lloyd to put UP in front 58-37.
Baskets from Hobbs, Lawson, and Swanson would push the Argo lead out to 29, and despite the Mystics bringing the game within 12 down the stretch, the Argos cruised past Bismarck State with a 95-83 victory.

Jakub Lloyd totaled 16.Â
The Argos will be back in action on Sunday, Dec. 7 when they host Dickinson State. Tip-off is schedule for 3:00 p.m. (MST) in the McLaughlin Center.
