GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program clinched a share of the Frontier Conference Championship with a sweep over Montana Western Friday night.
In the first set the Argos (27-2) jumped out to an 8-4 lead behind kills from senior
Bella Green and junior
Martyna Fiedler. Both sides traded points until three straight from the Bulldogs (13-16) brought the set within three. UP quickly extended the lead back out to seven, and despite a late 3-1 run from Montana Western, a kill from senior
Franny Martins secured the first set for the Argos 25-18.
The Argos continued their momentum into the second set scoring six of the first eight behind an ace from sophomore
Isabelle Cahall and a kill from junior
Cabry Taylor. The Bulldogs answered brining the set within two, but a 6-1 run from the Argos put UP ahead 18-10. The Argos cruised the rest of the way with a kill from
Sadie Giles taking the second set for UP 25-18.
UP stayed hot to begin the third set getting out to an 11-5 lead off kills from Giles, Taylor, and senior
Ryann Eddins. The Argos continued to roll the rest of the set ending the third on a 6-1 run with a kill from senior
Kiyana Faupula securing the third set 25-11, and the match 3-0.
Green led the way for the Argos with 10 kills while hitting .348; senior
Bella Thompson totaled 38 assists, and junior
Kyra Saiers had a team high 19 digs.
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 8 when they host Montana Tech for senior day. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â Â Â Â
