SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The University of Providence women's volleyball program swept The College of Idaho in game one of Pool Play at the NAIA National Tournament Wednesday afternoon.
The first set was back-and-forth with neither team grabbing a lead by more than two until five straight points from the Yotes (19-11) put College of Idaho in front 15-10. The Argos (33-2) answered cutting into the lead behind an ace from freshman
Araleigh Arnold and a block from seniors
Bella Thompson and
Kiyana Faupula to tie the set at 20. Each side traded points culminating in ties at 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, until a block from seniors

Bella Green secured the first set for UP 30-28.
The Argos got out to an early 8-2 lead off a pair of kills from Green and a block from juniors
Cabry Taylor and
Martyna Fiedler to begin the second set. The Yotes responded to cut the lead to four, but four straight from the Argos behind a kill from Taylor and an ace from junior
Ellie Carlson put UP in front 18-10. The Argos traded points the rest of the set with a kill from Giles taking the second for UP 25-20.
In the third set the Argos jumped out to a 9-2 lead behind a pair of kills from Fiedler and a block from senior
Sadie Giles and Taylor. The Argos continued their momentum extending the lead out to 12 off kills from Fiedler and Faupula, and despite a late flurry from the Yotes, UP cruised the rest of the set with an ace from Arnold securing the third set for UP 25-13, and the match 3-0.

Bella Green led the way for the Argos with 13 kills, senior
Bella Thompson totaled 36 assists, and juniors
Kyra Saiers and
Ellie Carlson tallied 17 digs apiece.
The Argos will be back in action on Dec. 5 for final game of Pool Play at the NAIA National Tournament. UP will face Mount Vernon Nazarene at 2:30 p.m. (MST) for a trip to the NAIA Quarterfinals.
