SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The University of Providence women's volleyball program swept Mount Vernon Nazarene in game two of Pool Play to advance to the NAIA National Tournament Quarterfinals Thursday afternoon.
In the first set neither side could grab a lead by more than two until a 7-2 run from the Cougars (27-9) put Mount Vernon ahead 8-5. The Argos (34-2) responded immediately with five straight of their own to take a 10-8 lead, and following a flurry from the Cougars, UP scored five of six behind kills from seniors

Franny Martins, and junior
Martyna Fiedler to give the Argos a 16-14 edge. Each side traded runs the rest of the way but the Argos scored the final three points of the set with a kill from junior
Cabry Taylor securing the first for UP 28-26.
The Cougars jumped out to an early 6-1 lead to begin the second set but the Argos slowly clawed back to tie it at 15. Both teams would take short leads with ties at 20, 21, and 22, until UP scored the final three points with a kill from Martins and an ace from junior
Kyra Saiers taking the second set for UP 25-22.
The third set went back-and-forth early until an 8-1 run from the Argos behind a pair of kills from senior
Kiyana Faupula and Taylor put UP in front 16-10. The Cougars would respond to bring the set within two, but UP slowly extended their lead the rest of the way with kills from Green and Taylor securing the third 25-20, and the match 3-0.

Martyna Fiedler led the way for the Argos with 11 kills apiece, senior
Bella Thompson totaled 36 assists, and junior
Kyra Saiers had a team high 23 digs.
The Argos will be back in action on Dec. 6 for NAIA National Tournament Quarterfinals. UP will face #3 Concordia, #14 The Master's, or #22 Dakota Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. (MST) for a trip to the NAIA Semifinals.
