GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's wrestling program swept their three duals at the Battle of the Rockies on Friday.

In the first dual of the day the Argos dominated Idaho University winning seven matches and receiving three forfeits. Senior Kobi Johnson and junior Eli Abercombie started things off for UP with a pair of pins to put UP ahead 12-0.

Following a forfeit at 141, junior Austin Ramirez picked up a major decision victory over Nathaniel Vincler, and UP would continue their momentum in the final four matches with McKennan Mayer, Brendan Lockart, and Anthony Estrada winning via pin, and junior Noah Poe-Hatten defeated Avery Riggs 19-3 to secure the Argos 57-0 victory.

In the dual versus North Idaho College the Argos once again started hot with Kobi Johnson winning by major decision and Abercrombie picking up his second pin in as many matches.

Following losses at 141 and 149, #1 Pig Hobbs got the Argos back on track pinning Colton Tucker in 6:50 and Aden Graves followed with a 7-3 victory to put UP in front 19-12.

The Argos would fall at 174 and 285, but #3 Sawyer Hobbs and #13 Brendan Lockart picked up pins in 2:39 and 1:35 to give UP a 31-21 victory.

In the final dual of the day the Argos started things off with three straight pins from Johnson, Abercrombie, and senior Hunter Dyer.

Ramirez kept the momentum going defeating Josiah Wickard 4-2, and Hobbs pinned his second opponent of the day in 54 seconds to give the Argos a 27-0 edge.

The Argos would drop the 174 and 285 matches, but Graves picked up a tech fall victory over Rhyland Turner 18-3 and Lockart got his third pin of the day in 4:06 to secure the Argos 44-8 victory over Snow College.

The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Dec. 6 for the Battle of the Rockies Open. Wrestlers will begin at 9:00 a.m. (MST) in the McLaughlin Center.
