GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball program fell to Carroll College 101-88 Thursday night.

The Saints (11-14) scored the first eight points of the game, but the Argos (14-11) answered back with a layup and three from senior
Mike Wright Jr. to make it 11-5.

The Fighting Saints went up 25-12 early, but jumpers from senior
Nikolajs Atanasovs,
Antoine Boyd Jr., and junior
Ryan Chavez cut down the deficit to six with just under 10 minutes remaining.

Both teams went back and forth trading threes including multiple from Wright Jr., but the Saints held on to a six-point lead with just under four minutes to go in the half.

The Saints would keep the lead the rest of the way, but a buzzer beating three from Wright Jr. would leave the Argos trailing by five heading into halftime. Wright Jr. led all scorers with 22 points in the first half.

Carroll scored the first points of the second half but UP responded with a pair of free throws from Boyd Jr. keeping UP within five.

The Argos and Saints exchanged baskets most of the second half with scores coming from Chavez, Boyd Jr. and senior
Dylan Hushaw as they trailed by 10 with eight minutes to go.

The Argos got momentum back after a three and dunk from Boyd Jr. to make the score 84-78 with six minutes remaining.

Trey Wasson, UP was unable to make the comeback as the Argos fell to Carroll College 101-88.

The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 15 when they travel to Dillon to face off against Montana Western. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in the Straugh Gymnasium.
