SALEM, Ore. -- The University of Providence softball program split their pair of games in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener defeating Corban 10-2 (5) in game one, and falling to the Warriors 5-2 in game two.
 
In the opening game the Argos (3-3) jumped in front scoring the first run of the game in the top of the first when junior Tiffany Fuentes singled to left to score Tehnesos Ehnes from second.
 
Following a walk from Sydnee Weber, Marilyn Comack kept the bats hot for UP singling up the middle to score Weber and Fuentes to put UP ahead 3-0.
 
UP did not slow down in the top of the second when sophomore Kasidy Yeoman singled up the middle to score senior Sydney Wilting.
 
The Argos made it 6-0 later in the inning when an RBI double from Sydnee Weber scored Yeoman and a SAC fly from Fuentes scored Ehnes from third.
 
The Warriors (1-10) added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, but in the top of the fifth Marilyn Comack reached on an error to score Jaden Ruiz and a single to center from Wilting scored Eliazar Southard to push the Argo lead back out to six.
 
UP did not stop their with a single from Yeoman and a SAC fly from Eheneson to make it 10-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth.
 
Sophomore Ashley Mitchell was able to sit the Warriors down in order in the bottom half as she finished her day allowing one hit and throwing all five innings for her second career victory at UP.
 
In game two, the Warriors stuck first scoring five runs in the bottom of the third, and despite UP added two runs off a steal play and a SAC fly in the top of the sixth, the Argos fell to Corban 5-2.
