FULLERTON, Calif. -- The University of Providence women's soccer team
fell to Hope International 3-0 Monday afternoon.
The Royals (2-0) put the pressure on early with a pair of shots on goal in the first 15 minutes, but both were saved by sophomore goalkeeper
Chloe Pajaro.
Following a pair of shots from the Royals that went over the crossbar, the Argos (0-1) had a pair of chances but their crosses into the box did not connect.
With just over six minutes left in the half the Royals opened the scoring when a shot from 25 yards out went off the bottom of the crossbar and in.
Just over four minutes later, Hope International added their second goal of the half when another ball went off the crossbar and in as UP trailed 2-0 heading into the break.
Three minutes into the second half the Argos threatened with a pair of corner kicks, but UP was unable to get a shot on frame.
Hope International, who was receiving votes in the NAIA National Poll, added a goal in the 63
rd minute and despite a few late chances from the Argos, UP fell to Hope International University 3-0
The Argos will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Alisa Viejo, Calif. to face Soka University. The first touch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. (MST).
