ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- The University of Providence women's soccer program tied Soka University of America 2-2 Tuesday afternoon.

The Argos (0-1-1) opened the scoring when in the 12^th minute a touch pass from sophomore Andriah Watson found freshman Autumn Apana-Purcell just outside of the box and her bouncing shot found the back of the net to put UP ahead 1-0.

UP continued to pressure over the next 10 minutes with a shot from sophomore Brooklyn Poole, but it was partially blocked and stopped by the Lions (0-0-2) defenders.

Soka did go away continuing to pressure throughout the rest of the half including seven shots on goal, but none were able to get past sophomore goalkeeper Chloe Pajaro as UP went into the break leading 1-0.

The Argos controlled the start of the second half and in the 54^th minute Apana-Purcell continued her hot start to her freshman season with a free kick from 25 yards that made it past the defenders and over the outstretched hands of the goalkeeper to put UP in front 2-0 with her second goal of the game.

Soka America would not go away, continuing to get shots on frame and broke through in the 78^th minute when a pass into the box connected to cut the Argo lead in half.

The Lions continued to pressure and with just over two minutes remaining a corner kick went all the way through the defense and into the back of the net to tie the game at two.

Despite a few late chances for the Argos neither side could connect as UP tied Soka University 2-2.

The Argos will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Pasadena, Calif. to face Caltech. The first touch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. (MST).
