BISMARCK, N.D. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program won their 12
th straight game with a sweep over Bismarck State Friday night.
In the first set the Argos (13-1) got out to an early 8-3 lead behind kills from senior
Bella Green and juniors
Cabry Taylor and
Martyna Fiedler. The Argos continued to extend their lead the rest of the set with kills from seniors
Franny Martins and
Ryann Eddins securing the first 25-16.
Both sides went back-and-forth to start the second set until a 12-3 run from the Argos put UP in front 17-8. Each team traded points the rest of the set and UP scored three of the last four off kills from Martins and Fiedler as UP took the second 25-18.
The Argos scored the first seven points of the third set, but the Mystics (2-8) slowly cut into the lead bringing the set within two. The Argos quickly extended their advantage with a 7-1 run behind kills from Green and Taylor, and despite late pressure from Bismarck State, kills from Eddins and Giles secured the third set for UP 25-18, and the match 3-0.
Giles led the way for the Argos with nine kills, senior
Bella Thompson added 28 assists, and senior
Kyra Saiers had a team high 14 digs.
The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 20 when they head to Dickinson, N.D. for a matchup with Dickinson State. Game time is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. (MST) in Scott Gymnasium. Â Â Â Â
