PASADENA, Calif. -- The University of Providence women's soccer
program tied Caltech 1-1 Wednesday afternoon.
The Argos (0-1-2) dominated possession to begin the game with shots by seniors
Gabby McVay and
Kailey Camper, but both were stopped by the Beaver (0-0-1) defenders.
Caltech answered with a pair of shots of their own, but were both saved by senior goalkeeper
Jennifer Alvillar.
UP continued to threaten the rest of the half with shots from sophomores
Andriah Watson and
Simona Rizzon, but neither could find the back of the net as UP went into the break tied at zero.
Both teams went back and forth to start the second half with neither team putting a shot on goal until a corner kick from the Beavers connected inside of the box to give Caltech a 1-0 lead.
The Argos did not go away putting the pressure on late when in the 90
th minute a free kick from junior
Shea Waters went through the defense to senior
Angel Jessen who tapped it into the empty net to tie the game at one.
Caltech pressured the final 30 seconds but were unable to get a shot on goal as UP tied Caltech 1-1.
The Argos will be back in action Thursday, Sept. 18 when they host Bushnell University for the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener. The first touch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â
