Argos Pick Up First CCC Win With 2-0 Victory Over Corban

GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence women's soccer program picked up their first Cascade Collegiate Conference victory defeating Corban University 2-0 Saturday afternoon.

The Argos (1-2-2) had the first opportunity of the game when a through ball from freshman Anisia Ramirez found freshman Aurora Eastburn down the right side and her shot went off the fingers of the Warrior goalkeeper before finding the back of the net.

Over the next twenty minutes the Warriors (3-3) put a pair of shots on goal from Maya Alston and Kate Dickson, but both were saved by senior goalkeeper Jennifer Alvillar.

Neither side threatened the rest of the half as the Argos went into the break leading 1-0.

The Warriors put the pressure on to start the second half rattling off five shots on goal including four from Altson, but Corban was unable to find the equalizer.

The Argos answered with shots from sophomore Holly St. Germain and junior Shea Waters, and UP continued their momentum until a misplay by the Warriors was chipped in by senior Kailey Camper to extend the Argo lead to two.

Corban had a few shots down the stretch but were unable to break through as the Argos picked up their first Cascade Collegiate Conference victory of the season defeating the Warriors 2-0.

The Argos will be back in action Friday, Sept. 26 when they travel to College Place, Wash. The first touch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (MST) versus Walla Walla University.
