GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program picked up their 14
th straight win with a sweep over #4 Bellevue Friday night.
The first set was back-and-forth early until the Argos (15-1) went on a 12-4 run behind kills from seniors
Sadie Giles,
Bella Green, and junior
Martyna Fiedler to put UP ahead 19-13. UP would not slow down scoring six of the last nine points with a kill from Green securing the first set for the Argos 25-16.
In the second set neither team could grab a lead by more than three until seven straight from the Argos off a pair of kills from Giles and Fiedler put UP in front 22-14. UP traded points the rest of the set with a kill from senior
Franny Martins taking the second for the Argos 25-17.
The Argos continued to roll to begin the third set, getting out to an early 6-2 lead behind kills from Fielder and Green. UP continued their momentum with a 7-2 run off a kill from junior
Cabry Taylor, and despite a late burst from the Bruins (10-3), a block by senior
Bella Thompson and Martins secured the third set 25-16, and the match 3-0.
Fiedler led the way for the Argos with a career high 15 kills while hitting .400 and Giles and Green also reached double-digit kills with 12 and 10, respectively. Senior
Bella Thompson totaled 38 assists and had a team high 12 digs while junior
Kyra Saiers added 11.
The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 27 when they host Dakota State. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont.
