PORTLAND, Ore. -- The University of Providence men's soccer
program defeated Warner Pacific 2-1 Sunday afternoon.
The Knights (5-3) broke through first scoring in the 24
th minute when a Warner Pacific attacker weaved his way through the Argos (3-4-1) defense and buried his shot to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
Following a header from freshman
Musa Jallow that went high of the goal, the Knights rattled off three shots on goal in four minutes, but all were saved by sophomore goalkeeper
Andrew Schoenen.

The Argos continued their momentum with a pair of shots from sophomore
Liam Vaux, and in the 89
th minute sophomore
Pedro Rodrigues found sophomore
Jose Gonzalez in the box, and he sidestepped the defender and buried his shot to put the Argos ahead 2-1.
The Knights had a corner kick in the final minute, but the Argos defense stood strong as UP defeated Warner Pacific 2-1.
The Argos will be back in action Thursday, Oct. 2 when they host Northwest University. The first touch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (MST) in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â
