SIOUX CENTER, Iowa -- The University of Providence
men's soccer team fell to Dordt University 3-0 Thursday night.
The Defenders (2-1-1) pressured early with a corner kick out of the gates, and a few moments later they continued to threaten when a shot from inside the box looped over junior goalkeeper

Dordt would not let up continuing to maintain control in the offensive zone managing three shots on goal until a penalty kick in the 39
th minute put the Defenders ahead by two. Â
Neither side threatened the rest of the half as UP went into the break trailing 2-0.
The Argos (0-3-1) had a pair of corner kicks to open the second half but were unable to get a shot on frame.
Playing two men down for the Argos, Dordt added another penalty kick in the 58
th minute, and despite a late shot from freshman
Musa Jallow, UP fell to Dordt 3-0.
The Argos will be back in action Thursday, Sept. 18 when they host Bushnell University for the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener. The first touch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â
