GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball team fell to Rocky Mountain College 77-62 Friday night.
The Argos (2-16) scored the first seven points of the game behind baskets from junior
Marvel Chambers Jr. and senior
Jakub Lloyd, and following a 10-0 run on the other end from the Battlin' Bears (15-3), a layup from sophomore
Quinn Swanson tied the game at 10.
Each side traded baskets with five lead changes over the next four minutes until an 8-1 run from the Battlin' Bears gave Rocky Mountain College a 27-20 lead.
Rocky Mountain College slowly extended their lead the rest of the half as the Argos went into the break trailing 37-26.
The Battlin' Bears made the first basket of the second half off a three-pointer but the Argos quickly answered with a triple from Lloyd and a floater from Chambers Jr. to cut the Rocky Mountain edge to nine.
Over the next five minutes Rocky Mountain College pushed the advantage out to 20, and despite late baskets from Lawson and Chambers Jr., the Argos could not make up the gap as UP fell to the Battlin' Bears 77-62.
Senior
Jakub Lloyd led the way for the Argos with 16 points and juniors
Marvel Chambers Jr. and
Marcus Lawson added 12 and 11, respectively.
The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 17 when they host Carroll College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont.
