GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball team fell to Carroll College 52-41 Saturday night.
The Fighting Saints (13-6) scored the first basket of the game, and following a jumper from junior
Eliannah Ramirez, a pair of baskets from Carroll put the Fighting Saints ahead 7-2.
The Argos (12-7) slowly cut into the lead the rest of the quarter with a three-pointer from
Ainsley Thurber making it 15-14 heading into the break.
Both teams went back-and-forth throughout the second quarter but a pair of baskets from the Fighting Saints gave Carroll College a 23-20 edge heading into halftime.
The Fighting Saints opened the third quarter with a 14-4 run to extend the lead to 13, but a layup from junior
Brooke Dial and a free throw from senior
McKenna Reggear cut the lead to 10 heading into the fourth.
The Argos cut the lead to eight to begin the fourth quarter and following baskets from both teams, triples from senior
Camryn Cartwright and Dial cut the lead to 46-39 with three and a half minutes remaining.
The Fighting Saints pushed the lead back to nine, and despite a late layup from Dial, the Argos could not make up the gap as UP fell to Carroll College 52-41.

Brooke Dial led the way with 15 points and senior
Ainsley Thurber added nine.
The Argos will be back in action Tuesday, Jan. 20 when they head to Havre, Mont. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. versus MSU-Northern.Â
