Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Argos Fall to MSU-Northern

HAVRE, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's basketball team fell to MSU-Northern 102-78 Tuesday night.

The Argos (3-18) scored the first five-points of the game behind a pair of baskets from junior Marcus Lawson but the Lights (12-8) answered with five-straight to tie the game at five.

Each team added a pair of baskets until a 7-0 run from the Lights put MSU-Northern ahead 18-11.

The Argos slowly cut into the lead bringing the game within three off a triple from senior Brendan Redhead and a layup from junior Preston Condie, but MSU-Northern outscored UP 26-13 the rest of the half as the Argos went into the break trailing 51-36.

Over the first nine minutes of the second half the Argos cut the lead down to 10 behind a pair of three-pointers from Redhead, but the Lights quickly answered pushing the lead back to 20.

The Argos pressured down the stretch with a three-pointer from freshman Brady Bantz and a layup from Lawson, but UP could not make up the gap as the Argos fell to MSU-Northern 102-78.

Junior Marvel Chambers Jr. led the way with 20 points and junior Marcus Lawson and senior Brendan Redhead added 15 and 13, respectively.

The Argos will be back in action Friday, Jan. 30 when they head to Bismarck, ND. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (MST) versus Bismarck State.
