BISMARCK, N.D. -- The University of Providence men's basketball team cruised past Bismarck State College defeating the Mystics 109-97 Friday night.

The Mystics (1-20) scored the first basket of the game but a three-pointer from sophomore Quinn Swanson and a layup from junior Marcus Lawson put the Argos (3-18) ahead 5-2.

Each team went back-and-forth until an 8-2 run from the Argos behind baskets from Lawson and junior Marvel Chambers Jr. gave UP a 25-14 edge.

The Argos continued their momentum with three-pointers from sophomore Anthony Hobbs and senior Brendan Redhead to extend the lead to 18 with eight minutes remaining in the half.

UP slowly increased their lead the rest of the half with a triple from Swanson giving the Argos a 59-39 edge heading into the break.

The Argos outscored the Mystics 10-5 over the first five minutes of the second half to push the lead out to 25, and despite a late run from the Mystics, the Argos cruised past Bismarck State with a 109-97 victory.

Senior Brendan Redhead led the way for the Argos with 20 points while sophomore Quinn Swanson and junior Marvel Chambers Jr. added 19 apiece.

The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31 when they head to Dickinson, N.D. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (MST) versus Dickinson State.
