FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The University of Providence women's wrestling program competed at the Warrior Open throughout the day Friday.  

Nine Argos reached the placement matches at the Warrior Open on Friday in #11 Isa Bocanegra, #12 Hailey Sutton, #17 Kayla Shota, seniors Kailey Rees, Kacey Lee Pua, Ty Takamori, sophomore Angelina Doral, and freshman Megan Morales and Mckenzie Mills.

Bocanegra went 2-1 on Friday pinning Alexis Baumgartner, and defeated Katie Rowles 12-1 before falling to #9 Makayla Young in the semifinals. Bocanegra will wrestle Kylee Whalan on Saturday for a spot in the third-place match.

Rees also went 2-1 on day one of the Warrior Open pinning Alexis Kelley in 3:25 and defeating Mckayla Bonham 12-2 before falling in the semifinals. Rees will wrestle Nalma Ghaffar on Saturday for a spot in the third-place match.

Sutton finished her day 3-1 defeating Makya Newlun 10-0, Sarah Doty 11-1, and pinned Cailyn Casto in 1:59. Sutton will wrestle #17 Hailee Crosland on Saturday for a spot in the third-place match.

Morales and Shota finished their days 2-1 and 1-1 and will face off on Saturday in route to the third-place match while Doral, Takamori, Mills, and Pua all went 1-2 and will wrestle for seventh place tomorrow.  

The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 24 for day two of the Warrior Open in Fort Wayne, Ind.
